Hire Equipment on Mount Buffalo
Mount Buffalo Ski School has toboggans, snow shoes and "Hok" skis for hire from the day shelter/cafe at Dingo Dell (there are no hire facilities at Cresta Valley).
The Dingo Dell shop also stocks a small range of ski socks, gloves and beanies and other basic items such as sunscreen.
You can book your toboggans, snowshoes or Hok Skis in advance to ensure you don't miss out - please call us to book.
Snow Clothing and XC Ski Gear
There are no snowwear or cross country ski hire facilities on Mount Buffalo.
We recommend you hire your outerwear, snow boots and cross country skiing equipment in Myrtleford, Porepunkah or Bright before you travel up the mountain. See the end of this page for a list of hire shops.
Toboggans
The Dingo Dell toboggan slope is very popular with families wanting a fun day in the snow. The slope is long and has the perfect gradient for tobogganing. Go as fast or slow as you like!
Cresta Valley offers an even longer toboggan slope for the adventurous!
Snowshoes
Snowshoes strap over your snowboots to create a wider footprint when walking, meaning you sink into the snow less than with regular boots. They're not necessary for snowplay but are perfect if you want to explore the trails around Dingo Dell, Cresta Valley or other locations on the mountain.
Hok skis
Hok skis are a cross between a snowshoe and a back country ski. They have steel edges and a fixed "skin" underneath to grip the snow when travelling up hill or on flat ground. You use a "Te-ak" pole to assist and to help steer rather than normal ski poles. Hard ski boots are not required as the adjustable binding will fit snow boots, hiking boots and other snow suitable footwear.
These can be used on the trails and plains of Cresta Valley.

Ski hire shops near Mount Buffalo
Not all ski hire shops have cross country skis. The hire shops listed below are the only businesses we know of in the region that currently stock XC skis, boots and poles for rental. Remember to allow enough time to have your boots and skis properly fitted before you travel up the mountain for your lesson or tour.
